Through the years: The shoes our mothers wore

May 28, 2017

Mothers will always be in fashion, with new styles erupting every season. They are the people version of the likes of Carmex lipbalm, or the perfect white t-shirt, they build the foundation of a whole look (or a flawless soft pout)!

We have put together a list of the most worn and loved shoes from our mothers' wardrobes for this mothers day. Good old trusted clogs, sneakers and mules, here are the highlights of shoe-fashion from the past five decades that your mother will approve of.

1960 White Mary-Janes and bruised knees

Ca 1964, Ann-Louise dressed in an all-important white hat & shoe combo. Cutsie Mary-Janes all around we say!

(Extra points for the crisp white socks, Carrie Bradshaw would approve)

1970 The decade of the wooden clog

Clogs barely visible, but who cares when your mum hands you this gem of a picture!

Painting the summer house, celebrating midsummer, graduating high-school or disco dancing, the wooden clog was the obvious footwear of choice.

Colourful, strappy, platform or painted, there was a clog for every occasion!
